What services does your business offer?

I’ve been a REALTOR® with Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Nevada Properties for nearly five years, assisting buyers, sellers and investors with residential resales and new construction. The last two years I’ve been in the top 10% of the company. My business with a client doesn’t just stop when the transaction closes. I also enjoying helping buyers become great homeowners through asset management i.e. how to take care of their home. It’s typically a person’s largest asset – they’ve worked hard for it so let’s take care of it. Great homeownership goes a long way come time to sell. In fact, you can find a list of tips for taking caring for your home on my website, RichCrithfield.com. Click on Buyers, then click on Taking Care of Your Home.

What is your favorite part of your position or industry?

Growing. There’s always room to grow in this industry. Knowledge is key. The latest seminar I attended was about helping divorced couples navigate through a difficult time. Regardless of the circumstances, there’s a satisfaction for me in assessing a client’s options, creating strategies to increase equity, and then laying those out clearly for them to understand the potential outcomes.

It’s also great being somewhat of an ambassador to the Las Vegas area. Having lived here for 15 years I’m pretty knowledge about the lay of the land. Over the past year I’ve assisted clients who have moved here from Hawaii, Oregon, Washington State, Ohio, Texas, California, Florida and Connecticut. Welcoming them to the area has been a favorite part of my job.

What continues to motivate or inspire you in your industry?

I come from 20 years in the hospitality industry, I started when I was 10 – humor me folks. Having always worked at luxury hotel properties I understand the importance of great customer service. I hope my clients feel like they’re getting the best possible service and experience.

Do you have any advice for someone just getting started in the industry?

This is simple. Carry a tape measure in your vehicle and never, never let your phone battery die. With that being said I do recommend putting your phone on auto do-not-disturb between 11:00pm and 7:00am if you want to get any sleep. Lol

Do you have any current mentors in the industry or anyone that helped you when you were first getting started? What advice or teachings were most impactful?

Being a part of the Berkshire Hathaway Brokerage, the mentorship and training program is incredible. There’s always someone to guide an agent or share a learning moment back-and-forth with. Rick Berube, our Vice President of Sales is an incredible trainer and coach. He’s absolutely amazing! I try to sponge off him as much as I can. Of course, the local real estate board (GLVAR) offers a lot of training and oversight. Their moto for agents should just be “Straighten up and fly right – nobody wants to get into the mess of mediation”.

What drew you to join GLCCNV as a member?

When I heard about Tim Haughinberry becoming president, I knew immediately I wanted to be a part of the organization. He’s a terrific success, someone I respect and look up to. I’ve seen Tim give back to the community and that’s something else I want to follow and do more of.
