GLCCNV and Cox Business announce entrepreneurial grant and educational scholarship winners

Las Vegas – May 7, 2021 – Cox Business and the Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce Nevada, GLCCNV, announce the winners of their first entrepreneurial prize competition for a current or future small business owner who is also a member of the GLCCNV.

The Big Idea $5,000 Entrepreneurial Grant was awarded to Christopher Crescitelli with Dreamland, LLC. Crescitelli plans to use the award to invest in technology, specifically, DreamlandXR’s “Artificial Reality,” a ground-breaking innovation created to propel a new hybrid live/virtual era focused on equity, diversity, inclusion, accessibility, and resilience.

The Entrepreneur Educational $5,000 Scholarship was awarded to Joe Joanne Culver of Diversity Counseling of Nevada. Culver plans to use the award to take classes at Hazelden/Betty Ford Graduate School of Addiction Studies, the only Substance Abuse Treatment Center in the country with a fully accredited post-graduate program and use this knowledge to support the treatment of substance abuse among the LGBTQ+ community.

“The high-level of submissions we received from entrepreneurs and small business owners in Nevada is a testament to those working to enhance the LGBTQ+ community in Nevada,” said Chamber President Tim Haughinberry. “Our partnership with Cox Business marked our first corporate alignment since expanding to becoming the Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce of Nevada in 2019, a move that has led to significant membership growth and the creation of opportunities for partnerships.”

“We are honored to partner with the GLCCNV to recognize and develop innovation through this grant and scholarship program, which is a reflection of Cox’s commitment to building and nurturing a culture of inclusion, diversity and equity,” said Cox Business Director of Field Marketing Cody Sims.

The Gay & Lesbian Chamber of Commerce Nevada (GLCCNV) is a U.S. not-for-profit advocacy group that aims to expand the economic opportunities and advancement of the LGBTQ+ business community. Visit www.glccnv.com.
